Course Description:
This elective will teach the foundations of marketing and its role in business. Marketing includes all of the activities and functions required in a business or organization to get goods, services, or ideas from where they are produced or created to where they are consumed. It is the exciting part of business strategy that dictates the trajectory and life of a product or service. Topics such as marketing functions, buyer behavior, market research, the product and its life cycle, advertising, and social media will be discussed.
Students will be educated on what marketing is and then get hands-on experience working on marketing campaigns both figuratively and in real-life. They will learn from industry leaders on what works well for marketing and how they can use their class time experience to promote a business or organization.
Course Objectives:
- Develop an understanding of marketing concepts and their impact in business
- Learn the Biblical foundation for church marketing
- Discover their own “brand” and how they market themselves in life
- Have fun creating marketing campaigns with social media sites like Facebook and Twitter for both personal and business purposes
- Assist in the marketing and social media campaigns of Christ Church Kirkland
